Monte Carlo Growth of Brownian Bridges

Abstract:

The objective of this research was to sample the equilibrium thermodynamic properties of randomly generated polymer chains with fixed ends. These polymer chains are called Brownian Bridges since they are generated by standard Brownian motion. We used the chain-growth Population Monte Carlo algorithm to sample these systems in the cases where the random walks were self avoiding. The algorithm was implemented via Octave and run through the HPC. We gathered data under different dimensions (2D and 3D), different polymer lengths, and different polymer populations. The data we generate can be used to compute specific heat curves.
