CMS Open Data Workshop 2022
Abstract:
The CMS experiment has made over 2 petabytes of data available to anyone through the CERN Open Data Portal. In 2020, the CMS DPOA (Data Preservation and Open Access) group held the first-of-its-kind, Open Data Workshop (virtual) for anyone interested in accessing and analyzing these data. This workshop was run a second time in July 2021, but with the benefit of experience allowing positive reworks of how the workshop was run. This August a third workshop was held, and was open to both online and in-person participation. My work this Summer consisted of test-running lessons/exercises, working with Dr. Bellis to write code for lessons, and offering feedback on readability and comprehension. We then traveled to Geneva, Switzerland to participate in the workshop in person and got to tour various aspects of CERN related to the data we were working with in the workshop.
