Site-Specific Theatre - Historic Cherry Hill
Abstract:
In collaboration with the Black Theatre Troop of Albany, the 2022 Siena Summer Theatre Research Project produced the play “Tell Me That You’ll Not Forget Me”, written by Emily Furlong ‘21 and Megan Stuart ‘22. The play explores themes pertaining to the lingering consequences of slavery, as well as familial loyalty and loss from the eyes of a real family living in Albany, NY in the late nineteenth century. With historical evidence from the script and local archival research, the scholars led the production’s design and execution. Working in their respective creative disciplines (acting, production, sets, lighting, sound, costumes, props, and stage management), they helped create a piece of live art to give their audience a window into some of the remarkably influential individuals who came before them.
